Please provide a brief update on your progress toward your proposed CWB goals in the last reporting period:
We hosted the second in-person workshop for the Chicago Worker Cooperative Developer Fellowship where our 12 fellows came together to strengthen cooperative development skills and learn best practices. We also continued planning our Matchmaker event for August 22nd where we are inviting worker coops and developers to meet with selected business service and capital providers to meet needs and forge new collaborations. Finally, we also began planning a high profile convening in late fall to focus on legacy business preservation.
What constraints or limitations, if any, did you experience in the last reporting period?
Finding appropriate space to host large ecosystem events. It took several rounds of inquiries but we are now partnering with Windsor Park Lutheran to host our matchmaker event.
What opportunities, if any, did you take advantage of in the last reporting period?
We worked closely with the Revolution Institute and Chi Commons to shape a vision for the matchmaker event. We also connected Chicago Community and Workers' Rights with the lead developer of New York City's Drivers Cooperative as they are supporting the development of a Chicago drivers coop comprised of uber/lyft drivers eager to build and co-own a better platform and service. Finally, we connected with the Illinois Center for Employee Ownership which is interested in collaborating on fall's legacy business convening.
