1) New CIV Preparation: In partnership with Chicago TREND, we conducted due diligence on a inclusively-owned shopping center acquisition opportunity in the Austin community . The shopping center is aligned with TREND’s investment criteria—geographic, demographic, and financial. TREND submitted a purchase offer to the seller this month. I the offer is accepted, our goal would be to acquire the shopping center in partnership with 25 to 100 local residents, who would benefit financially as the property becomes fully leased and appreciates over time. TREND CDC also submitted a grant to a local funder to support the project. 2) Partners in Equity Event: We are planning an event in Partnership with Partners in Equity, an organization that provides equity to entrepreneurs looking to purchase the real estate in which they operate. We invited Chicago-based entrepreneurs, CDFIs, community development non-profits that work with small businesses, funders, and City personnel to learn more about the opportunity. The event will take place on November 22. 3) Roseland Medical Center Case Study: Progress continues, and we are working on an RFP to identify a designer to format the final product.
