UGC provided the following workshops to our Grower Apprenticeship participants: 10/4: Farm Work Day 10/7: Farm Work Day, focused on Seasonal Bed Maintenance 10/14: Composting and Vermicomposting Workshop - featuring Will Allen as guest facilitator 10/18: Cooperative Visioning for next year- planning and preparation for 2024 season 10/21: Transplanting Collards and Kale- cool weather crops that can be over wintered 10/28:Hoops and Row Covers demonstration (preparation for cold weather)
What constraints or limitations, if any, did you experience in the last reporting period?
Seasonal wind down for agriculture in Chicago-- Preparation for late fall and winter growing with Apprentices with less predictable weather. This required additional planning to ensure that workshops could be adjusted for sudden frosts, or inclemate weather that might impact production schedules.
