TA Providers: General Questions

CWB Goals

Please provide a brief update on your progress toward your proposed CWB goals in the last reporting period:

Revision of the Early Warning manual continued in March. Despite not having a monthly Advisory Committee meeting in March, progress was still made. The first edit is completed as planned, with the Executive Summary and the new Chapter 1 both now drafted. Dr. Matt Wilson, a member of the Writing and Revisions subcommittee, met with Pauline one-on-one in mid-March to give input on edits to the manual and research background. Others provided feedback asynchronously via emails. The Advisory Committee is reviewing the draft and will provide feedback at our next full group meeting. Due to the limited availability of members for various reasons, including spring break vacations, the March meeting was rescheduled to the first week of April. During this meeting, the second edit will commence with revisions of Chapter 2 and 3. We also plan to have an in-depth discussion on planning elements for the training. Regarding recruitment and outreach, we have begun drafting a one-page summary and a flyer for distribution. The outreach subcommittee will have an opportunity to provide feedback on these materials during the next monthly meeting. Additionally, we held a Manufacturing Succession Solutions (MSS) event at MxD on Tuesday, March 26th in which various stakeholders attended, including two of our Advisory Committee members. MSS is an initiative of MR that, together with Early Warning Systems Building, is helping to advance the work of the community wealth building ecosystem. Establishing an Early Warning network will allow us to identify companies that are in need of ownership succession assistance. Once those companies are identified we can then present MSS as a solution to the owners and introduce them to diverse buyers.

What constraints or limitations, if any, did you experience in the last reporting period?

We continue to have availability constraints and as mentioned above we have decided to postpone our monthly March Advisory Committee meeting until the first week of April. We do not see this impacting our current timeline, but it may mean that we need to reconsider the monthly meeting cadence moving forward.

What opportunities, if any, did you take advantage of in the last reporting period?

Pauline has registered for the Worker Cooperative Webinar Series organized and shared by Frank Cetera of the Democracy at Work Institute. The webinar topics, including coaching, finance, and funding, are relevant to the work Manufacturing Renaissance is doing, and she plans to attend each webinar offered starting in April 2024.
