TA Providers: General Questions

CWB Goals

Please provide a brief update on your progress toward your proposed CWB goals in the last reporting period:

Las Visionarias : We have another member who will be joining the Visionarias as soon as she completes the cooperative training and receives her certificate. Her name is Maria Sebastian. We're on track with our goals, which include adding 2 new members before the end of 2024. We are trying to finalize the budget for Seed Commons. We would like to borrow about 6,000 to buy new equipment and provide accounting training. AmoraClean: They have recruited two new members who will join once they complete the workshop training. We are finalizing the budget, bylaws, business plan and budget for the loan from Seed Commons. We are also applying for 6,000 from Seed Commons. Red Arrow: We have created the mission and Vision. We are working on a business plan and budget. We are looking for a future location. We have hired a new co-op administrator - her name is Veronica Buenrostro- She will be joining us part time - helping with back office and business support. She is also a business owner of Buengro.com and is committed to the mission of promoting the solidarity economy. We held a co-op orientation workshop on September 27. We had about 17 attendees who were there to learn more about co-ops.

What constraints or limitations, if any, did you experience in the last reporting period?

We had a conflict with AmoraClean, the ladies are experiencing personal hardships which caused us to delay development for a couple of weeks.

What opportunities, if any, did you take advantage of in the last reporting period?

During the USFWC conference in Chicago we met a group of folks from the Wellington United Church on the Northside of Chicago who wanted to learn more about co-ops and wanted to donate equipment for AmoraClean co-op.

Chicago CWB Ecosystem

Did you establish new CWB relationships/partnerships in the last reporting period?

Yes

Please describe the relationships you established pertaining to your CWB work.

I met with Ann-Louise Haak from Wellington United Church of Christ-her church has a long history of working on immigrant justice issues, and she and others in the church are convinced that worker co-ops are a great way to organize and equip people who have barriers to employment. We are trying to figure out how we can partner with them on these issues in Chicago - and they also have some funding to share with the co-ops for needed equipment.
