Please provide a brief update on your progress toward your proposed CWB goals in the last reporting period:
The Resurrection Project continues its momentum in developing community engagement as we continue to provide workshops and informative sessions tailored around cooperative housing and working with the lending team to finalize a share loan product. We are building a pipeline of interested people and helping them be buyer ready. We also attended the train the trainer sessions held at UIC and hosted by UHAB.
What constraints or limitations, if any, did you experience in the last reporting period?
The main constraint we encountered was the timing of the SEIP grant rollout for emerging co-ops and the high demand from deed restricted properties (Chicago Housing Trust properties). Many of our cooperative housing clients have not been able to apply yet because the SEIP grant requires the buyer to have a purchase contract in place.
What opportunities, if any, did you take advantage of in the last reporting period?
Victor Lua and Ray Arroyo attended the Train the Trainer sessions led by UHAB and hosted by UIC. We also worked with some of our clients to support them in navigating their applications for the SEIP grant. Alondra Puente, Housing Cooperatives program navigator, was able to put together a directory of co-ops with contact information and other important details. Alondra Puente, Housing Co-ops navigator, worked on the Chicago Co-op directory.

Testimony from Alondra Puente, housing cooperatives program navigator: Reflecting on my experience with the co-op housing program, I find it has been both incredibly interesting and challenging. This is an area that I’m new to, and stepping into it has pushed me to go beyond my comfort zone. The process has truly challenged me to dig deeper and explore every possible avenue to understand co-op housing better. It's been a learning curve, but I’ve embraced the challenge because it has expanded my knowledge and skills in ways I hadn't anticipated. The search for co-op housing information was particularly difficult at times. To gather the necessary details, I had to utilize all available sources—Facebook, Twitter, Google, Reddit, and even asking around in other programs. While some searches were straightforward, there were times when I’d find myself stuck for over an hour, trying to gather information on just one co-op housing option. The scarcity of clear, organized information was frustrating, but it also taught me to be resourceful and resilient in navigating the system. Even though the process could be tedious, I managed to work around the challenges, adapting my approach as needed. Despite these difficulties, I’m excited to be part of this team. More than that, I’m thrilled to see the potential for this program to grow within the community. It’s a meaningful cause, and I’m particularly excited about its future in my home city of Chicago. Being part of something that can have a lasting, positive impact on people’s lives has been deeply fulfilling, and I look forward to seeing how this initiative evolves both locally and beyond.
