Please provide a brief update on your progress toward your proposed CWB goals in the last reporting period:
On Friday, November 22, TREND CDC, in partnership with Chicago TREND, hosted a successful Lunch and Learn event featuring Partners in Equity at our offices in downtown Chicago. The event, held from noon to 1:30 PM, brought together a group of 40 community leaders, business owners, funders, and stakeholders to engage in a lively discussion about the future of equitable commercial real estate ownership and opportunities for low-wealth communities in Chicago. Talib Graves-Manns and Wilson Lester of Partners in Equity delivered a presentation on their mission to democratize commercial real estate ownership. They outlined their 2025 strategy to invest equity capital in low- and moderate-income business owners in Chicago, emphasizing how their work aligns with TREND and CDC’s inclusive ownership model. Lyneir Richardson, CEO of Chicago TREND, provided an update on our shopping center acquisition strategy and efforts to expand opportunities for local residents to co-own assets. The event served as a catalyst for relationship-building, with attendees exchanging ideas and expressing interest in future collaboration. TREND CDC is committed to hosting similar convenings in 2025 as we continue to champion equitable ownership and transformative economic development initiatives.
