TA Providers: General Questions

CWB Goals

Please provide a brief update on your progress toward your proposed CWB goals in the last reporting period:

In the month of November, Chicago Community and Workers’ Rights (CCWR) worked with the following worker cooperatives: Cocina Compartida de Trabajadores Cooperativistas (CCTC), Street Vendors Kitchen (SVK), and Cooperativa IDEAL. This month, our organization did not meet with all of the members of Proyecto Avance due to their workload, the meetings were with the president and vice president to coordinate meetings with the other cooperatives we are working with. Our organization had 2 reunions this month with CCTC and continued to discuss their work plan for opening after the reconstruction (paint job, electricity, finishing the garage floor, and room ventilation) of the shared kitchen. CCWR also met 4 times in November with the Street Vendors Kitchen to continue working on their bylaws. Our organization met with Cooperativa IDEAL twice this month. The bylaws began to be created and the first two statutes were completed. We also discussed other cooperatives we’ve had relationships with, and other historically important cooperatives like the cooperative Mondragon and the Pascual Coop.

What constraints or limitations, if any, did you experience in the last reporting period?

As we mentioned in the last report, the Shared Kitchen Cooperative (CCTC) in still under construction and the street vendors have not been able to begin the process of getting their licenses.

What opportunities, if any, did you take advantage of in the last reporting period?

Chicago Community and Workers’ Rights continues to connect worker cooperatives with each other so that they can learn from each other, and provide support in terms of funding resources and work practices. There are plans for all the emerging cooperatives we’’re supporting to tour the cooperative Nueva Era.

"Hello, my name is Celsa Arroyo, vice president of the IDEAL cooperative. We are very grateful to the Chicago Community and Workers Rights organization for all their support they have given us in the formation of our cooperative since with their knowledge they have guided us to be clearer about our objective and how we went about completing it step by step. Mr. Martín Unzueta and Mr. Abraham Uriel Ramirez are very kind and are always willing to collaborate and push us towards more sustainable growth. Thank you for your commitment to the formation of new cooperatives."
