Please provide a brief update on your progress toward your proposed CWB goals in the last reporting period:
We completed our permanently affordable housing co-op incubator sessions with over a dozen participants. We have also been meeting with others in the Chicago co-op community to build capacity. We are planning a graduation ceremony soon. we have also started building a team of contractors to establish contact with existing co-ops and start to learn about their needs with the hope of offering training to them and learning what other needs they have.
What constraints or limitations, if any, did you experience in the last reporting period?
Share loans continue to be the greatest stated need. Our the lack of contacts with existing permanently affordable co-op housing in Chicago and the naturally affordable co-ops makes difficult efforts to support and preserve the limited-equity and non-equity co-ops and learn how Chicago could support the naturally affordable, formerly limited-equity co-ops that might be returned to permanent affordability with assistance and government grants and low interest loans.
What opportunities, if any, did you take advantage of in the last reporting period?
We continue to participate in the Chicago Co-op Taskforce. We continue working with The Resurrection Project and others to discuss setting up a share loan program. We have begun planning to gather information on the existing affordable housing co-ops in Chicago. We have also participated in other gatherings of co-op supporters organized by CSO and the UIC Hub.
