Please provide a brief update on your progress toward your proposed CWB goals in the last reporting period:
The Resurrection Project has been actively assembling our Housing Cooperatives program's team. We welcomed 3 new members to the team. We also hosted co-op workshops via our social media channels, we had the opportunity to attend a networking event, and we provided some tabling outreach and info during an event with a local network of community organizers. Internally, we presented the Housing Cooperative initiative to our full staff during a lunch and learn session hosted by Lending and Full Circle Homes. The lending team continues to work with the city to execute SEIP contract and lending product and are setting up for distribution.
What constraints or limitations, if any, did you experience in the last reporting period?
SEIP contract with the City of Chicago is making its way slowly through City of Chicago legal department. We should have a contract executed by the 2nd week of October.
What opportunities, if any, did you take advantage of in the last reporting period?
Ray Arroyo attended the open house walkthrough tour at The Happy Family Cooperative, where we were guided through a six unit building that is up for sale. Although these units are for sale, the co-op is considering converting them into rent-to-buy apartments as they are expanding their cooperative. The Housing Cooperative team also attended a networking event with SOMOSLoud, a community organizing group with UIC held at the National Museum of Mexican Art. We networked and shared information about our programs and services. We also conducted two one-on-one co-op buyer consultations with folks interested in buying into a co-op.
Did you establish new CWB relationships/partnerships in the last reporting period?
Yes
Please describe the relationships you established pertaining to your CWB work.
Yes. We partnered with SOMOSLoud and joined their network as community focused housing cooperative consultants and explored joint community engagement opportunities and future collaborations. Ray also connected with Leila Korn, a cooperative housing member from Little Village and coordinated collaborative opportunities such as joining our webinars as a guest speaker. Thanks to our monthly webinar series, we are connecting to groups interested in our educational workshops and training. We connected to the folks from The Happy Family Co-op and lots of folks from the SOMOSLoud networking event.
